Amrit Yoga

Nancy Sloan is a Registered Nurse, Massage Therapist, Holistic Health Educator, Certified Amrit Yoga Nidra Facilitator, and Certified Amrit Yoga Instructor (500 hour RYT - Yoga Alliance). Amrit Yoga developed by Yogi Amrit Desai, renowned Yoga Master and one of the earliest pioneers to bring yoga to the west, is a powerful yoga practice that teaches the practitioner how to connect, step by step, with the original source and purpose of yoga - which is to use physical yoga postures as a vehicle for entering the timeless state of being.

Speaking about the Amrit Method of Yoga Nidra, Nancy says:
"Yoga Nidra means Yogic Sleep, an ancient technique that puts you in a state of profound relaxation. In this deeply integrative state the combination of alert awareness and a series of easily practiced relaxation techniques will help you break the pattern of stress and old destructive habits. Additional benefits include: lower blood pressure, increase immune system, prevent premature aging, stablize blood sugar, promote restful sleep, relieve muscular tension and pain...

Speaking about Amrit Yoga, Nancy says:
"When I say timeless I mean realizing we are so much more than our physical bodies. The practice combines dynamic postures that fully engage body and mind with deep meditative stillness- bringing the active and receptive energies of the body into balance. The focus is on developing a strong foundation through precise alignment and form, on which to build a regular practice. The postures are specifically designed to raise energy levels in the body, to develop one-pointedness and to begin the practice of entering the deepest states of meditation while in yoga practice."

Nancy’s fundamental class includes basic postures, breathing, philosophy and meditation. Amrit Yoga, ‘The Posture of Consciousness’ is a metaphor for life. The skills of mindful attention, meditative awareness, the calm and relaxed mental attitude developed on the yoga mat, extend to the challenges you encounter in life. The benefits are cumulative.

Private sessions for individuals or groups are available upon request.
